Voltage Drop Calculator

Use this calculator to determine the voltage drop in your supply cable. This helps decide whether your LEDs will shine reliably and at full brightness.

Note: The calculation is based on a supply cable with constant current – not on the LED strip itself, where the loss is distributed over the length.

Voltage drop in the cable: 0 V

Voltage drop in percent: 0 %

Remaining voltage at the end of the cable: 0 V

How it is calculated:

Formula for voltage drop:
Voltage drop (V) = 2 × Cable length × Current × Resistance

The factor 2 accounts for the return path through the cable. The resistance depends on the cable cross-section.

Convert power to current:
Current (A) = Power (W) / Voltage (V)

This allows you to calculate the appropriate current from the known power and voltage.

Cable resistance (copper) per meter:
Cross-section (mm²) Resistance (Ohm/m)
0.25 mm² 0.0695 Ω/m
0.50 mm² 0.0356 Ω/m
0.75 mm² 0.0233 Ω/m
1.0 mm² 0.0178 Ω/m
1.5 mm² 0.0117 Ω/m
2.5 mm² 0.0070 Ω/m
4.0 mm² 0.0044 Ω/m
6.0 mm² 0.0029 Ω/m
